I didn't take her to a different room, though. I just had Morrigan put up sleep, waking nightmare, blizzard, lighting storm, and death cloud, which took a pretty good amount of mana consumption, but kept those nasty archers at bay.
Although overcoming the scatter shots from the archers was difficult, I was proud that my whole team made it through alive lol.
This was the only big battle that my whole team survived, and I wasn't even expecting them to. I would suggest you use frequent AoE bombs on those pesky archers, and keep Cauthrien focused on your tank/arcane warrior.

I am trying to get the achievement 'Heavy Hitter'. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions with weapons, armor or skills? So far I have only gotten 95 hit points I think. That is way below 250 what am I doing wrong?

The game is designed so that you cannot win the battle. The story arc assumes you lose the battle (or surrender) and thus the next sequence will begin. I've never even come close to defeating Cauthrien and her guards.
I beat her on my first playthrough and never realised there was a branch of the storyline that was different if you surrendered/lost the fight so I beat her on my next 3 playthroughs too. It's one of my favourite fights of the game - on normal setting anyway (not so sure I'd like it on nightmare!)
This fight requires a lot of tactics and regular pausing to re-evaluate the party's moves. It *is* winnable at level 15 if you have a mage with good crowd control spells. She is a really tough boss and takes some time to beat so its really important to minimise the damage from the other NPC's as much as possible so your whole party can focus on her.
Same, on my first play through I didn't realize giving up was a legitamate option. She isn't that hard, you just can't mindlessly hack and slash your way through it like you can the rest of the game. Every boss fight should be like that imo.

I've heard reports of Mana Clash hitting certain high level magic-users for over 3000 damage.khburr wrote...

Oh, and I got Heavy Hitter with a Chasind Great Maul using Final Blow, though I suspect Death Hex/ Death Cloud will also do it fairly easily.

I have also seen massive amounts of damage done with various spell combos, like Storm of the Century and Entropic death.

Actually, it's designed either way. The dialogue all makes sense if you beat Ser Cauthrien and go straight back to the estate.Volleyjeff wrote...

Having said that, the player is clearly meant to either surrender or lose to Ser Cauthrien, because she's one of the hardest bosses in the game, harder than the Archdemon or even possibly Gaxkang the Unbound. Also, the fact that the Escape! quest is one of the funniest sequences in the game, and it'd be a shame to miss out on it on your first playthrough.
I recommend either Sten/Dog, or Zevran/Oghren. Both of those combinations can make it all the way through.
LOL Zevran/Dog is hilarious too! Esp if you let Dog handle it.

I actually got that by having my archer hit a random foe with an arrow of slaying. 360 points of damage and one dead ogre.

True, Dog is pretty funny no matter who he's paired with. I just advocate Sten/Dog because it's the only way Sten is actually effective at bluffing. They compliment each other in terms of bluffing ability, as Sten is able to bluff past the only one Dog cannot, and Dog's very presence allows Sten to bluff through the first hurdle, when with anyone else he fails miserably and decides to go on a rampage.
Plus Sten has the best line when he reaches the PC's cage.

If you loose the fight it matters not
Yes, this is a fight you can lose, unlike the others. Most people wait until later in the game to fight Ser Cautherine, or don't fight her at all. It seems odd that your only at level 15 at that point. I think you must have missed a number of the side quests, or blasted through some of the areas without exploring them fully. You seem to have missed rather a lot of fighting.

And then when I realized what I missed, I reloaded and surrendered.

If you defeat her and then surrender, you'll get two Summer Swords and in the second fight she's really a wuss. So weak compared to the first!
In time: You are NOT supposed to lose the fight IF you want the Kind of Big Deal achievement (zero injuries) WHILE not losing Sten's approval if you have him with you! - If you fight and lose you get the injury score. If you surrender, Sten disapproves.
