I've done a playthrough with every single class, and my two choiced would be:

Least favourite: The Soldier.
Not that the soldier plays bad overall, but with the soldier this game is too much shooter and doesn't play diverse enough.
It's just aim at an enemy and gun it down. If you're not playing on hardcore or insanity even adrenaline is optional.

Favourite: Vanguard.
That guy is crazy and plays completely different from the other classes. While other classes seek cover and take down the enemy one by one, the crazed Vanguard catapults himself directly into the enemy frontline, beats down the enemy he stands before and gives some shotgun hell to the next one. By then he's ready to propell himself to the next unexpecting victim. Most fights take not even half as long with a Vanguard. And thats a sh!tload of fun!

My second favorite: The Adept.
Adepts play diverse and interesting. The biotics have cooldowns that are between quick and very quick. Warp the armor of your victims to shreds and then send them screaming across the battlefield with a throw. That was tons of fun.

I love the Soldier, however, Vanguard is ridiculously fun to play, I don't know witch I pick,

.

So a Rank would be:

.

1 - Vanguard/Soldier

2 - Sentinel

3 - Engineer

4 - Adept

5 - Infiltrator

My top two are Engineer and Infiltrator.

I love being able to strip my enemies of all their armor with the Engineer, and I love the strategies I can come up with on my Infiltrator.

Vanguard is fun,but charging and shotgunning starts to get a little to repetetive and boring very fast.
Adept and engineer are my number ones. The soldier isnt that bad too.You could use a lot of different weapons and have all ammo types, also a little crowd control with concussive shot.
Soldier is better then the boring infiltrator. In Mass effect,it was a good mix of tech powers and combat. But now he doesnt have overload, has situational ai-Hacking and incinerate.
Really, an engineer with a sniper rifle is so much better.

Soldier is most fun for me, but that is probably due to the fact that only soldiers can use the Revenant for obvious reasons.

My least favorite by far was Sentinel. I nearly fell asleep playing through it. I guess caster'ish classes just don't appeal to me in a shooter game.

Least fav: Soldier. There are tons o shooters out there, 'n this game is the one that taught me actually how boring they are (it's my first real RPG).

Fav: I'm deciding between an Engie or Sentinel, without forgetting the Vanguard. I love casting, I just wish the powers had shorter cooldowns. As for the Vanguard, well, as has been mentioned countless times here before, a charge and shotgun blast to the face just NEVER GETS OLD.

Yes, Sentinel was kind of passive. But his tech armor was a great help against the husk swarms when I played my (only) insanity run with a Sentinel. If you don't like to be in a defensive stance in ME2, you should not choose the sentinel, tho.

1. Vanguard - RAWR! (edit: the whole "I will kill my enemy by hitting them with my face", mental and I love it)

6. Adept - I like to "get involved", adept is the opposite of this, so I don't enjoy it.

1. Vanguard - charge+Eviscerator/Claymore = priceless

2. Soldier - Great, intense experience. Revenant + Viper + Adrenaline Rush rocks

3. Sentinel - Assault Armor + Eviscerator make it Vanguard lite. Caster Sentinel was boring.

4. Infiltrator - Soldier lite, powerful but boring

5. Adept - I do not enjoy Warp explosions, got sick of them during the Adept playthrough. Singularity is great. Other than that, Adept is weaker than caster Sentinel.

6. Engineer - least fun, Drone is powerful, but boring. I loved Cryo Blast though.

1. Infiltrator - Tactical cloak + Widow = BOOM headshot!

2. Adept (tie)

2. Engineer (tie) - Adept and engie tie because they can both lock down the combat zone equally well. The combat drone is on the verge of being overpowered IMHO.

4. Vanguard - A more exciting version of the soldier. I love the charge, melee hit, Krogan shotgun to the face combo.

5. Soldier - The "safe" class. Predictable and fairly boring. Adrenaline rush not all that useful.

169. Sentinel - That last ranking is not a typo. In a race of 6 it would be 169th. Can you tell I dislike the sentinel class? If it didn't have the tech armor, you'd be dead most of the time. No offensive oomph. Barely useful as a party support character.

1st - vanguard i love this guy lol - still got a lot of bugs/glitches - u know, 'cant reach the target', on the collectors platforms the charge is bugged...... but fun...well :bandit: mostly..

2nd - tie between adept and infiltrator.

3rd - soldier - because i love adrenaline rush/revenant.

4th - sentinel - the tech (assault) armor is awesome.

i dont like the engineer.

Favourite: Vanguard - Charging around blowing fools away while constantly flirting with death is by far the most fun i've had with this game:O

Second favorite: Sentinel - For me assault armor & geth pulse rifle or eviscerator made the sentinel into a better soldier then the soldier as it let me play super aggressively running into groups & mowing down enemies all in real time:D

Least favourite: Soldier - For me just felt very dull spaming adrenaline rush all the time & getting the revenant just made it worse as now i didnt even need to change weapons anymore<_<

I played Vanguard first, on Hardcore, because my main ME1 shep was a Vanguard. After that I dabbled in each of the other classes but none of them came close to the adrenaline rush of Heavy Charging at an armoured/shielded/barriered foe (so that they're just staggered instead of flying back) and then Krogan-shotgunning them in the face before diving for cover and reloading.

I'd say the Engineer class is the least fun to play.

1: Soldier. I really like having access to all the guns and handling the shooting myself while mainly using my squad for their powers. That said I really wish I could equip an SMG to compliment my Vindicator and my Widow (the Revenant is ****loads of fun; but I'm a damned surgeon with my Vindicator). If you enjoy shooters as I do then you'll love the Soldier if you don't you won't.

2: Vanguard: Hyper aggressive, charge is probably the most entertaining ability in the game.

3: Infiltrator: I really enjoy sniping, particularly with the Widow and the tactical cloak opens up a lot of new tactics (more effective flanking and ambushing) and its a lot of fun to use.

4: Engineer: The thinking man's class. Not as powerful as some; but the ability to distract your enemies with AI hacking and the combat drone makes it a lot of fun, particularly if you choose Dominate as your bonus power.

5: Sentinel: Its a really powerful class; but to me its direct attack abilities aren't as entertaining as just mowing cats down with my Soldier.

6: Adept: Flinging guys around with Pull or Singularity and using the Warp detonation is fun; but it gets repetitive. Aside from that you spend a lot of time whittling down defenses with Warp so you can use your powers, so its more entertaining on lower difficulty levels.

Heightened Adrenaline rush gives you a +140% damage bonus.  That's nearly twice the +75% bonus that the infiltrator's tactical cloak gives you.   Furthermore the slow down lets you lay down headshots right and left with the Vindicator.   Personally, I think Adrenaline Rush might be the most powerful ability in the entire game.

1st-Sentinel - Assault Armor + Guardian Passive + Evi = Sexy time (new Vanguard of ME1)

2nd-Vanguard - Bearded men only apply

3rd-Soldier - Revenant melts faces

4th-Infiltrator - New age rogue. Forget snipers, backstab with cryo smg is how its really done.

The rest I won't bother listing because they don't fit my aggressive playstyle and will probably fall asleep typing them of how boring they are.

I'm new to the Mass Effect 2 game.

I've played all the classes but only my Solider went all the way to the end game. The rest are waiting to go through the relay.

Out of all them, I think I enjoyed the Adept the most. Flinging all the bad guys in the air until they turn into itty-bitty dots in the sky. That's fun!

Second would be the Vanguard. I like zinging all over the place.

Third would be the Inflitrator. Sneak-Boom!-Dead!

The rest are ho-hum.

How are you guys playing vanguard in a manner where it is so fun? I am not horribly impressed as a vanguard so far. I get pretty shot up waiting for my charge skill to recharge.

And should I get the Claymore or the assault rifle spec on the collector ship?

You have to know when to charge, espically earlier on before you get all your upgrades the cooldown times are problematic.  I usualy go straight to maxed chrage and champion, the latter helps with cooldown times.

As to assult rifle or claymore that is more of a personal preferance. I prefer assult rifle cause it helps balance out some of the class weaknesses, but if you want to play to the classes strengths then you should try the claymore.

Back on topic. Obviously Vangaurd is my favorite, followed by adept. So far, I would say engineer was my least favorite, though maybe I need to give it more play time.

My favorite is easily the Sentinel. I can warp your armor/barrier, overload your shields and throw you over a cliff. I might even freeze you if you upset me enough. Take out my shields, and it blows up on you, plus my shields regenerate to half strength, which saved my hide more times than I can count on insanity. Receive assault rifle training , and slap on AP ammo as your bonus power, and that makes up for the class' lack of offensive capabilites.

Least favorite is the soldier. Too few options with taking out a bad guy. I can shoot them with standard shots, or use my charge shot. Yay.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't played the Engineer yet, and I don't intend to (I feel that I've gotten enough tech usage from Sentinel and Infiltrator. And to be perfectly frank... I kind've find tech powers to be boring) But,  of the other classes I've played, this is probably the order:

1. Infiltrator
2. Vanguard/Sentinel
3. Adept
4. Soldiers

Soldier is my least favourite because, once I get the accuracy upgrade for the assault rifles, I don't use anything else besides the Revenant. Up until that point, though, I actually really like the class: I feel that I need to shift around which weapons I use for the situation, and I really love that feeling. Sometimes I'll be using my sniper rifle, sometimes I'll use the Revenant and then other times I'll use the shotgun if it gets TOO close.

Infiltrator is my favourite because I love the way it plays. I love flipping on my cloak and sneaking behind enemies and SMGing them to death, or lining up that perfect headshot with the Widow rifle. I also feel that, if you pick Armor-Piercing Ammo as your extra power, it has the perfect ammo mods. The only thing I really dislike is the AI hacking, I don't really use it. But then again, whenever I play, my Shepard is all about how much damage he deals: Rather than hacking an AI, I'd rather hit it in the head or incinerate it.
