Just imagine what this would look like, sans-clothes.  It'd approach a grandmother in hideousness.

Image IPB

Are there any mods out there that, uhh, makes the female form a little less... chunky?  I'm not talking about nude mods, just mods that stop my char looking like it came from Order Of The Stick.

Image IPB
Actually even she probably has more of an ass. xD

edit: fixes have been located!

The reason your character looks this way
is, all light armour types use the same 3d mesh, one which was designed
to form straight line in the back rather than tightly hug the body, to
emulate more rigid/loose outfit. This looks passable with other armour
where you actually have the leather covering the torso area, but the
Dalish armour tries to turn that model into the 'leather bikini' by
basically painting illusion of skin over that part but without adjusting
the mesh to match.

It bothered me too so i made a fix for it: http://social.biowar...m/project/2240/

Try Fantasy Body (although it *is* a nude mod)

Natural Bodies All-in-one is the best body replacer. It provides all the options, and they're fully interchangable post-installation if you use the mod manager.

All females in DAO have the exact same form (per race) which is entirely dependent on what they're wearing, so I'm sure you can find armor which will, quite literally, increase the size of your character's ass.

I'm not sure if any of those body mods change the way your character looks while wearing Dalish armor... maybe a mod of the armor itself.

True, most mods don't. However, once they're installed, if you get despondent you can always take off your clothes and remind yourself that your character is shapely.

Elfish ladies probably haven't been ploughed enough to have bigger backside unlike those ****ty dwarven & human ladies. It probably has to do with the malnutrition effecting the sexual appetite of the elven males.

I always wondered about that conversation. I mean I know Miranda is supposed to be virtual eye candy but did they really need to point the camera right at her butt during a conversation? Because that is one unnatural camera angle. It's like Jack and her sideboob conversation.

On topic, yeah. Elves do not have ghetto booty. But I've seen teenages with an equally bad case of lackanassitous. They usually grow out of it. Image IPB and keep right on going. Image IPB

Actually, that's something I'm working on. There are mods that increase butt and breast size on armor meshes, but they don't fix the issue with the misshapen spine. There's one that does, and I tried it, but my character's torso was thinner than her arms when I used it. I'm working on reshaping light armor to use the shape of the body models from Natural Bodies/ Realistic Look.

Image IPB

The shape of the vanilla light armor is horrible. Robes and clothing have a proper back; why is light armor so deformed?

I find it somewhat disturbing that whenever any game comes out, the first mods to appear are almost always ones to "fix" the female characters in the game. Of course, this "fixing" usually just involves turning them into sex objects, even more so than they often already are. I don't know about you guys, but I kind of prefer to play games for narrative and interesting mechanics, not for masturbation purposes.

Who's to say elves don't have misshapen spines and flat posteriors compared to our human norm?

What's next, folks "fixing" dwarves by making them tall and skinny with cute button noses?

<_<

Don't forget the nude mod!  I don't know about you, but I've been clamoring to get some dwarven booty.

In all seriousness, though, I don't necessarily begrudge efforts to improve the visuals in games... but I also tend to be fairly skeptical of the motivations of people in doing so, especially in cases when it involves making "improvements" to female figures, and even more so in cases where those females also happen to be elves, who are in general hypersexualised within the fantasy genre.

Dragon Age has its own art style, and while not all characters are anatomically correct, this isn't the case in most games either, and we have to accept that as a game, and one that takes place in a fantasy universe featuring non-human species for that matter, it's not going to perfectly adhere to reality.  Within the context of the game world, I think the characters look perfectly fine.  I mean, maybe that's just the way elves happen to look in Thedas.

I overheard this from my husband while this scene was going in his game: "I'm sorry, I can't hear you because you have an enormous ass! Did your father genetically engineer your enormous ass?"

Miranda comments that her looks were designed to give her an edge, so yes. Miranda was engineered around the 5 'B's. Brains, Boobs, Biotics, Booty, and B*tchiness.

It seems to me that it's more often women clamoring for fixes to the way female characters look, than it is men. As a man, for instance, I still thought Mithra looked pretty hot, and she's wearing that Dalish armor. But apparently (and I apologize if this is an incorrect assumption as to the OP's gender), that armor makes female characters "approach a grandmother in hideousness", from some women's POV.

I'm female, and I'm "fixing" the female light armor. The straight back isn't a matter of art style. All the other female meshes have a proper back. It's just the one mesh that looks like that. The shoulders are misshapen as well. If you noticed in my screenshot, I actually made the breasts smaller.  I wouldn't call that "turning the character into a sex object". Also, the straight back and strange shoulders are the same in the human mesh, so it's not an elven thing. Not everyone who edits meshes does it to make ****** material. It's aesthetic.
