He's just flattering himself. But maybe it's been like this all along and it's just recently when animators brought elves and humans up close to compare that we discover that the elves are emaciated sticks compared to their shapely human counterparts?

Ah, you're one of those. Nevermind then. :)

Yeah, self-righteous "I play for narrative" men in this thread get off your pedestals LOL. It's the women who will be the first to find the Dalish armor/body mesh is hideous.

Do you even realize how FAT this Dalish mesh makes a woman look? Ofc not, lol. Some male dev probably made the mesh; all they care about is boob size and everything else looks like crap. You want a woman to play the game while looking like that? I think Leliana must have silently protested every second that I had her in that armor.

Tbh/fair it's more likely all they cared about was keeping memory usage as low as possible due to console limitation in this regard -- hence the "single mesh per armour type" approach rather than individually tweaked models even though the system for that is already in place Image IPB

The reason your character looks this way is, all light armour types use the same 3d mesh, one which was designed to form straight line in the back rather than tightly hug the body, to emulate more rigid/loose outfit. This looks passable with other armour where you actually have the leather covering the torso area, but the Dalish armour tries to turn that model into the 'leather bikini' by basically painting illusion of skin over that part but without adjusting the mesh to match.

It bothered me too so i made a fix for it: http://social.biowar...m/project/2240/

Let's be fair here, it kinda kills the immersion when your dwarven woman is going around looking like some kind of hybrid spider with her unnaturally long arms. Equally bad is the rampant anorexia which plagues human and elven females alike. I get the impression that one blow would crumple their spines into dust.

Honestly, I don't mind the dorf appearances at all.  They're significantly different a race to make it seem natural for them.

Dwarf female mesh is pretty bad. Bioware basically gave human arms to them, which is the problem.

Why call them 'dorfs'? Is it a politically correct word for fantasy dwarves? It's not necessary: the word 'dwarf' means different things in fantasy vs real life. In fantasy it denotes a non-human people in their normal state, not suggestive of a human deformity.

Glad it was of use. Incidentally, the body lines in that Dalish mod are based on the nude shape from the original version of the game. There's alternative version based on the Realistic Look model lines included in the other armour mod ( http://social.biowar...m/project/2380/ ) so you might want to check which one you prefer, as their back curve is quite different ... although that one in turn can probably result in complaint "my elf has no front" Image IPB

I had a question about things of this nature. Would custom items also work with this, or would the .uti files need to be resaved?

Not sure but i imagine as long as the custom item references one of the standard armour models the change should affect them as well without any extra modification, and in the same way it affects the basic items shipped with the game.

Good to know. I can't model/texture to save your life, just like to keep work compatible with others if possible.

It's an affectionate/cute term for fantasy dwarves that has suctioned onto my psyche like a limpet.  Hehe... limpet.

From the front view, it looks like the poor female model was folded in half then unfolded.  And no samples of what this does to the Dalish armor model, which IMHO is the chief culprit of ickery when cursed with the default mesh.  (Do you need to make the other light armors form-fitting?  What, they wear a tight corset under that?  Think of their health!)

tmp7704's Dalish female armour fix seems to be a better approach.

I'm sticking with tmp7704's, because I trust his/her aesthetics sense!
I'm also gonna install that "other armour mod" he recommended, while keeping tmp7704's Dalish armor files for the humans and dwarves.

Oh wow, this means elves will actually have different body shapes now in-game, instead of everyone looking the same!  Awesome!  Ah, now I regret exterminating all those elves!  Oh well, next playthrough I'll ogle at them!

I posted the link in case someone might ALSO find this mod helpful. And YES I do want ALL armors form fitting and I don't care what your opinion is on it.

If people don't like these mods that's fine, I'm sure some will. ;)

edit: to clarify my moodiness on the topic, there's no mod that isn't worth mentioning ever even if they are not perfect (or really crass I guess), someone put a lot of work and effort into creating it the least we can do is show appreciation for their time. Not every mod will be suitable to everyone's tastes which is why encouraging more people to participate even on very similar projects is a very good thing, this means there will be a version for every person's varied opinions.

Your edit is so true, Eshaye. It's annoying when you're working on something (and you're damn proud of it) and someone comes along putting it down. Only one person has griped about my work on nwn2, and that's because I don't want to keep track of someone else's custom content.

Yup, mixing the mods like that can have a nice side-effect of more varied appearance Image IPB I guess it could be taken even further if someone wanted to, by assigning a separate model to each armour type (there's 4-5 variants using the same model at the moment)  The drawback would be increased memory use but that could work on fairly modern PCs.

Btw if you install both at once, they uh.. seem to "stack". The dalish armour looked like someone took a machette to my back until I disabled one of the mods.

That's weird; the way the game works it shouldn't stack really but use shape from one of the mods while ignoring the other. It's possible that appearance you speak of was actually result of the mod you disabled, and when you did disable it you got to see the appearance from the other mod. You might want to switch which of the mods you have enabled, to see if it goes back to that 'machette' look. (since the fix i did uses the base nude model as guideline that's pretty apt description for the resulting shape Image IPB

(I got on my soapbox for a bit then decided to kick it behind the garage… :innocent:)

EDIT: Of course, I read that the artist says, "I doubt I'll make one for the dwarves because they look freakish anyways." so I stand firm behind my designed-through-paper-folding comment.  :P

But it looks like they're actively working on it and taking constructive feedback and suggestions (such as smaller breasts as an option), so they're doing good by those who are looking for options for their female light armor.
