Yes the framrate drove me mad but i noticed everytime i was autosaving it dropped massivelly and afterwhile it took awhile for my quests to update when it gets really slow quit and reload the game and if you have a good memory take autosave off that is what made it lag for me is the dang autosaves. So if do what i just said you should have less framerate problems.

@vonFurious

I got a retail copy... now I'm thinking maybe the download and retail patches are different. It could happen. sigh

I've had framerate issues as well and in addition, I have a problem when equipping a shield, it will appear backwards and not move even when using shield talents...only fix is to unequip and reequip but it continues to occur....sounds goes off and on...small sound fx that were there in origins are not there for awakening half the time

I have wondered if Awakenings running off my hard drive (Download Version) is why I have had better results than people playing off the disk. Did your patch come via the retail Awakenings disc, or did you download the patch?

I downloaded both, and I am much more pleased with my Origins performance. I am sorry to hear it fudged your Origins experience, but its improved enough for me to warrant another play through.

Others on this forum have suggested deleting your Origins game file, and reinstalling. I don't know how this could effect DLC, but if you don't have any, its worth a shot, and you could try the downloaded patch if you've got internets.

@vonFurious

The patch I installed came with the disk. I don't think I can get a downloadable version of the patch through the psn store without buying awakenings again.

And no, I won't be deleting my Game Data Utility. This could potentially corrupt all my saves as I have the DLC and I am playing off saves that have that data (equipped items, stored items in DLC location) and there is to guarantee that things won't get messy.

I don't support "make do" fixes where the customer must find ways around a faulty product, I want a formal patch for this.

Of course, lucky you for having a working copy lolz :D

Yeah, I wouldn't do any of that stuff either. The biggest improvement I experienced was disabling the internet connection on my PS3 and downloading/ installing Awakenings.

It almost makes up for how bad it used to perform before I installed Awakenings.

Almost.

von: Has both Origins and Awakening improved - or just Awakening?

If both improved, then I don't know.  If just Awakening that makes a lot of sense.  Everyone's PS3 has a big handicap (even the newer slims) to cut cost/heat by having only a 2x Blu-Ray reader.  That comes to about 72Mbps at peak transfer.  Even your average 5400 rpm drive (stock in PS3) can reach 300Mbps and generally speaking hard drives have better seek times, cache, etc.  Since there should be little to no reason to access the Origins disc (other than their initial check to see if you have it), you are playing off a better source.

In my case, Origins I never experienced most of the problems people had (minus sometimes dead mobs would take awhile to register as lootable).  I finally broke and picked up Awakening (on disc) despite wanting to hold out for unlocked saves, and after playing through the weekend I've noticed almost all the problems people have been having.  My memory is fresh as I replayed Origins prior to this purchase to have at least one transferable character.  That play through had 0 problems.  My two days into Awakening has been littered with problems.

Exact same experience when i downloaded and installed Awakenings recently,in fact i only dropped by these forums to see if there was any firm official response and noticed your post.I'm in the UK, there wasn't any option here to buy on Disk so i ended up paying more for Awakenings than i did Origins and can now not play either,the framerate is that bad every time combat starts it just takes the fun out of it.

Fingers crossed.

I tried again today to see if maybe Bioware had published a patch and not just telling us about it. No luck. Still choppy as hell. However, I did remember something I forgot to mention last time. When I tried the last time I got the "Ultimate Sacrifice" trophy as soon as I started playing after the initial cutscenes. I thought that was pretty odd but didn't think too much about it at the time. But that trophy is from the other ending, which I haven't seen. Today, after loading the save game I received the "perfectionist" trophy and no, I haven't seen all possible endings.

Ok, I don't mind getting trophies (even though I'd like to earn them) but there is something seriously wrong with this game!!!

Anyone else in this thread receiving undeserved trophies as of late?

The ending trophies were buggy to start with, but the same thing happened to me.

I started orlesian warden in awakening, then went back and reloaded my human noble (queen) epilogue, and the final sacrifice popped up. I think it is because the game assumes warden is dead if you play orlesian.

I updated and now I freeze at least twice a session. I love this game but I'm almost at the point of giving up. Please fix this, there should be no reason all my friends with X Boxes should be working with a better build of this game.

ugh this is craptastic, cant play either awakenings nor origins, they both have serious framerate issues and crash within 5-10 minutes of play. any ideas? i hear it might be related to the playstation firmware 3.30? prior to the firmware i had ocassional framerate issues but now... the games are unplayable. hope bioware fixes this SOON

Im having the same issue with Awakenings, my problems are in the Select menu, didnt have any Freezing problems Until the battle at (Excuse the spelling) Amaranthine? Where you have the choice to go back to vigils keep or stay @ that city. Its not freezing for a few seconds, its just straight up locking my system up.

Just got my first full freeze on DA2 after patch. I couldn't connect to online to get my add-ons and DLC unless I downloaded the patch. I really hate PS3 patches. They always screw everything up. Last time we had an issue with this Bioware was able to fix it.
