Aw, remember that sick mabari that you get a quest-related note from? When I first saw her, I was like OMG OMG THAT'S MY DOG THERE! And then - no. it was not. :( It is the only thing I cannot understand or forgive in Awakening :-(

but if you are nice to her it gets brownie points from Nathaniel Posted Image

Because Dog is a she, and is nursing a litter.

It would be irresponsible to take mommy doggy out on darkspawn slaying quests when she has little ones that need her.

Alternatively, Dog bit Alistair again, and the royal guard put him down.

I think Dog found a nice poodle and has been sharing his doghouse in Highever with her. I expect the pictures of all my lil godpuppies to be developed next Monday.

My theory: After the blight dog helpls Shale to hunt down all the nasty birds in the world.- They succeed and he returns to me two weeks after the events in Awakening. OR: He started his new career as tax collector.

I want to keep the kitten Sir Poncealot or whatever his name was...it was so useful...it killed a rat...it stole some milk...it frightend some darkspawn to death...it revived fallen party members...it bit a cow...the list goes on :D

If the dog couldn't make it to Awakening then the kitten MUST MUST MUST be in the next instalment of DA. :P

His conversational barking was too hard to code into the game.

But, seriously. They didn't even put a simple codex entry to explain what the hell happened to our mabari. Lame.

I expect he's back at the palace sleeping on cushions and eating venison. We know that fighting darkspawn can make dogs sick. If I love my dog, I might want to limit his contact with darkspawn after all the fighting in Origins.

I think, while my mage is busy doing commander dutys, and Alistair came to visit, who left incharge of the palace since both the king and his consort are away, must be good old dog, can't see many people trying to back chat in court with dog incharge Posted Image

Actually no, they gain immunity to the taint ... if they survive as he did (unless in the Human Noble Origin) kind like Warderns do by driking Darkspawn blood.

He kicked some but in Origin's. When I did the Unbound quest and had Gaxkang to where he had about a 1/4 of health left my dog overwhelmed him and just tore him to shreds. I was thinking hey that's not fair that was my kill lol. I actually found it amusing competing with dog on killing the bosses.

*Sighs* I so miss him in Awakenings. Either Alistair or my brother better be treating him good lol for their sake lmao.

I thought he'd have to drink Archdemon blood to do that...

Well my dog is safe and sound in the Teyrnir of Gwaren, probably raiding the castle larder. Why would I bring him along for some formal business in Amaranthine which wasn't supposed to take longer than a few days?... I hadn't expected the palce to be under attack and the whole deal of talking Darkspawn though...

I always assumed Dog went with Sten. Sten had a strong bond with Dog, he had a long, lonely journey back to his homeland and The Warden wouldn't have much time as the Warden Commander to look after Dog.

If they had put the dog in, it would have been fun to see a Sir Pounce A Lot Dog chase cut scene! Or a scene where the dog decides to "care" for the kitten by giving it a bath. I had a doberman pincher who decided that the litter of kittens my cat had was hers. She would take one at a time off to clean them. The kittens would then wander back into the living room trying desperately to shake off the dog slobber. It was hilarious! Those kittens were given constant baths until I found them homes.

For Awakenings, I just decided my dog went with Alistair to Highever to keep Alistair company while he built Duncan's memorial. I do agree, having him lounge around the keep as a non-interactive npc would have been nice.

Yeah It's a contributing factor why I didn't run out and buy awakenings, I love my pooch :(. Not to mention he was a monster by endgame, I would have been happy with a cut scene or two though.

Because dog is afraid of Ser Pounce-a-lot, the clearly superior pet.

Dog isn't dead. There was a thread concerning this exact topic a month or so before Awakening was released, and one of the devs came in and confirmed that Dog wasn't dead, he just wouldn't be with you in Awakening. They gave no explaination as to WHY thought. =\\\\\\\\

It's the same deal with Leliana (and by extension Zevran). They screwed up; plain and simple. Maybe that rumored DLC will correct this, though it was still a questionable design design.

QFT. Plus, Ser Pounce-a-Lot comes with a cuddly adorable mage to help you fight darkspawn. You don't get anything with Dog.

And if you get the Dwarf Army out (I LOVE those little guys) and have convinced the Legion of the Dead to join you also see Karnitol (is that his name? the dwarf guy who leads the Legion) there too.

You have to convince them to join you? I've gone through every single dialogue option when it came to the Legion and they all always lead to Kardol saying that Feredelen will have the Legion.

And my theory is that Dog went to Tevinter with Shale since Wynne totally ditched her.
