Even in the time frame present if he decayed orbit, he's beyond toast.

They should have went with the Legion angle as they intended to.

Parachutes?  Low tech I can deal with, but even just one parachute would be bulky.  I cannot account for that kind of bulk in the Onyx N7 Armor.

Perhaps we might take a lesson from the name of this story - Mass Effect.  To use the techno-babble, perhaps the Onyx N7 Armor has a small mass effect generator in the same housing Shepard mounts his various weapons.  The ME generator could be used to lighten the load of weapons and their ammo, and could also slow a decent much as was done with the Mako.  A small distress beacon could also be mounted in there configured to go off either manually or when the armor's occupant looses consciousness.

Well, Shepard carries 4-5 weapons on his back, so I'm sure they've found a way to conserve space and fit a parachute or two (or six, for that matter). Kittinger had several parachutes in order to slow his initial 600+ mph freefall into a safe one.

Is it verified that the Legion story was written by a BioWare employee, though?

They found him adrift in space. I'f im not mistaken they show him as a big ice cube in the intro, meaning he nevered entered the atmosphere, just froze and floated in orbit. Impossible to survive. So it is kinda magical in a way. Lazarus project magical. :P

Dunno. A couple people on here swore on a stack of the Enkindlers it was, and not in a facetious fashion.

Anyone have a link to the story? I didn't bookmark it when I first read it.
