I'm pretty indifferent to both. Only major difference I found between the two was the radar, and it seems that it being disabled in real-time mode was a design decision.

I miss the blue hud from ME1, though : ( Looking forward to the color scheme for ME3.

The HUD in ME1 is a prime example of something that *needed* to be improved because it apparently worked well. It was small enough not to obstruct the view too much and at the same time provided all the info you needed.

So, the masters of "streamlining" were summoned and instead of a adequate and working HUD the only thing you now need to watch is ammo counter, whether those stupid squadmate icons on your bum are colored or greyish, and how much of your view is obstructed by those distracting and pointless red veins. Hooray for improvements

The only thing done well in my opinion were the cooldown indicators next to the cursor. I may not exactly need it, but it was there and sometimes proved even useful.

Really? I personally thought that HUD was worse than ME1's. I like that there is no sprint gauge,

It really should go back close to a ME1 style.

I want bars, names, and maybe even a radar.

The ME PC HUD was amazing, the ME2 HUD is a freaking joke, might as well just get rid of it.

yup I don't like the sprint thing neither but it's still easier to understand then the one they actually used.

Actually, now that I think about it, I don't prefer any HUD at all (I hate crosshairs >:o ). I've been trying to figure out how to turn the one in ME2 off without screwing over the dialog wheel.

Anyone else wish they had come up with a HUD more similar to this?

I love the dead space feel

I hated both of them to be honest, I think I would prefer to see a HUD similar to that in DA:O than eather of the two versions we have been given so far.

Not me. When the gameplay  revolves around 3rd person shooter, I like to have as little elements on the screen as possible, I want to be sucked into the universe. I'm not a big fan of those traditional RPG HUD's that take up 5% of the screen

Also, in speaking of GUI's in the same topic, One thing that I REALLY love about Fallout 3 is how the in game main menu was incorporated, it was made into a "Pip-boy" interface, and Personally i just loved how it was in game, part of my character. One thing that would be great to see, perhaps for ME3 is maybe when you press start to peruse the Codex, or look at your journal, is to have Shepard open up his Omni Tool, I don't know, a half baked idea, just throwing it out there :)

I actually like that idea we should be able to alot with the omni tool. Such as cheack a squad status upgrade, heal etc... it would be great.

Nah, ME2 HUD is better. More simple and occupy less space with useless information...

LOL! Like 007 Goldeneye??? That would be awesome :D

The main menu should have the look of an omni tool since the first game.

One thing I don't like is the Squadmate pictures on the ME 2 hud.

I agree. In the Xbox version I grew tired of seeing my squadmates' pictures superimposed over my bottom cheeks or on the frontside as a sort of virtual testes replacement for the majority of the game

Good idea Javier, I actually really liked that in Fallout 3 with the game keeping you immersed.

Also poll now added to the original post.

The problem is I always thought the PipBoy was kind of... immersion breaking. Why? Because it paused the game. I mean, for a hellish wasteland full of demonic mutants and slavers, they're awfully polite to let you consult your Pipboy to inject some StimPaks into you and pull out the weapon that will soon gib them. It made me remember I was playing a game.
Although it'd be interesting to see an omni-tool fashioned main menu. I mean, with the design of the omni-tool (namely the large ring that occupies most of it's holographic space), you could even keep the radial menu.

Interesting poll results so far - most people prefer the ME1 HUD, but it's fairly close between ME1 and ME2, which isn't what I'd have expected from the responses here.
