Oh excellent. Another DLC. It will likely add those already existing letters into Awakening, as well as a couple of lines of new text, and then they'll sell it to us for $3.99Katsuya Kaiba wrote...
There was the interview where one of the Bioware team says they would love to do a Romance Pack.

*BANG* The messager has been shot.
Right now, if the DLC makes Awakening more bearable, I'll pay the 4 bucks.

QFT. I still haven't finished the damned thing due to so many issues. Both bug and plot related.

Romance Pack - Play as a Darkspawn....
Which one of these have the most people asking for it? Now, I may be missing something but so far in my forum browsing it has been the ROMANCE PACK. Of course I could totally be wrong, this is strictly based off of the posts I've seen thus far, not fact. Not to mention, couldnt you just download a MOD to play as a darkspawn? I didnt look into this but I thought I recalled someone making a MOD for that...*shrug*
I for one am in that group that was rather hoping for a Romance Pack, in Origins..and perhaps something like an above poster said, to make Awakenings more bearable.
*Throttles BIO* Why o' Why are you not making this already? I want my Zevran in Awakenings..thank you very much. *Scowl*

I haven't bought Kasumi. I am saving for (hopefully) this ill-fated romance DLC. One thing I know gives me hope are these seemingly cut letters, but if they were bugged, then I am incredibly depressed.

But alas..my faith in BIO is dim at best right now after the initial release of Awakenings, which after 40 bucks I've only played once. So yah...bring on the 5 dollar DLC Romance pack whats 5 bucks compaired to 40, I'll be gaining a new game to play.

Ha- I've always had the utmost faith in Bioware, but given how Morrigan's romance ended (Morrigan fanboy) and then how "meh" Awakening and the DLC has been thus far, I'm becoming Mr. Doom & Gloom.
I guess as far as the cut letters go, the more I think about Awakening, the more I think Bioware just tried to shove the whole import your Warden feature in at the last second. At least that would explain the crummy cameos and lack of continuity. I've just found Awakening makes more sense when you just play as the Orlesian Warden and treat Awakening as a little side story.
Whether its an expansion pack or DA2, hopefully we'll be able to play as our Origins Warden at least another time to get some closure and finality. But I'm worried we'll just get more ho-hum hack and slash DLC and then DA2 will be some completely different hero character.

True enough, but it is still lackluster as compaired to Origins...theres just no 'life' to it. Great, so you can chat with your teammates, if you can find the single click tree...you can hear psydo banter, all 2 seconds of it. It was stuff like that that gave Origins its personality and life IMO. Wether playing on import or a direct made character, its still just ..eh to me..

Awakening is just an empty soulless vessel compared to Origins which is a shame- the whole Architect and intelligent darkspawn thing is great but you see the Architect what, twice in the whole game?
True enough on the dialogue too- I get what they were trying to do, but they replaced making the rounds at camp to find new dialogue (which I didn't mind) with going on scavenger hunts across huge maps to find the tree or floating ship that triggers dialogue.... really Bioware? The whole thing just seemed rushed to me; like if it had a couple more months to polish it could have been much better.... oh well.

The new conversation system is something they have said they are going to go with (but obviously improve) because the Origins system was flawed, which is true. I am alright with this as long as we get to ask some questions ourselves and initiate some as well.

The new system does need quite a bit of work. I don't think I've ever used the Tab key quite as much as I did when I was playing Awakening. How are you supposed to know that Random Tree #1138 in the Wending Wood is suddenly a dialogue trigger for Sigrun?
The thing is, that a system like what they want to do is much too dependant on environmental triggers for the encounters as well as the chatter. Switching to that instead of active questioning means that there needs to be a complete excess of environmental triggers so you don't end up losing influence with some party members simply because they happened to be along at a given time, like KotOR2. So I'm not sure of Gaider's argument of this new system meaning they have to write less dialogue holds water, if you want it to work right.

I think it would be cool if you could ask someone different things after every big quest, or somesuch. Along with the interactable objects and the initiated dialogue.

While I agree the old system could use a little work, I'd much prefer to talk to my teammates when I want to, and not have to run around for hours to find their specific triggers...then not ever be able to talk to them again. ....I'll be a sad sad panda if BIO makes their future additions like Awakenings. Zevran dissapproves -100
And, this is why I will be waiting before I purchase any other addition...*pouts*

The biggest shortcoming I found in Awakening's dialogue is that while the dialogue triggers in the world were great, I still found myself farming dialogue by entering and re-entering the main hall.
Like I said, not perfect, but imo, still a step in the right direction.

I totally agree - Both systems need work. I personally didnt like the Awakenings style, there wasnt enough of it. You only got it once on the trigger object...and, you have run all over the place just to get to it. That isnt 'natural' to me, when I want to talk to my husband I turn and talk to him, I dont run outside to find a tree that may remind him of some old childhood memory *end dialogue for life*...Yes I know its a game vs. RL but, you get the idea im trying to get at hopefully.
I preferred the ability to be able to talk to my teammates whenever I wanted, I do understand they just couldnt put enough dialogue in the game to house that type of system, I did understand once you were done with all dialogues, the constant repeating of the same thing.
Both systems need work, if they can find a happy medium without sacrafising that which made Origins awesome. Im all for it. I just dont want a mute, mindless, lifeless game..Theres plenty of those already on the shelf.

Who gives a **** about realism? The old system was FAR superior to the new one IMO. The new system is exactly why no one cared about the party members. The trigger 'mining', the fact that you couldn't launch conversations and whenever you selected them, there would always be this snide remark from them. The whole thing felt wrong and rushed. Keep it the old way I way and some triggers that are obvious to the player that pays attention could be added. That's the way I see it.scyphozoa wrote...
I remember Gaider's explanation of the new dialogue mechanics. I understood it as, while the old system was convenient, it was also tremendously artificial. I don't necessarily think the Awakening mechanic was the best it could be, but I do think the old formula needs to be developed and improved on and that Awakening's dialogue was a step in the right direction to more natural and organic interaction.
The biggest shortcoming I found in Awakening's dialogue is that while the dialogue triggers in the world were great, I still found myself farming dialogue by entering and re-entering the main hall.

Talking to person via a barrel is less artificial than directly talking to a person? WHAT TYPE OF WORLD ARE YOU PEOPLE LIVING IN?
