Besides that, it would be nice if our big choices actually had big consequences in the game too- the whole Morrigan ritual seems like that may go some where in the future, but at least in Awakening, the only big consequences you see for your actions are only reflected in the epilogue slides.

I would LOVE to see an explanation on this, or see it corrected in a patch. It is such a tiny thing, but it would have been such a big deal to those who romanced Zevy-baby in Origins. :-/

I was going to buy Awakenings. Seriously, I was going through my wallet and thinking if I should head to the local mall today.
And I saw this thread.
Suddenly I don't feel like purchasing Awakenings anymore.
Despite seeing the dropped ratings, the bugs reported, the multiple complains, I would have thought the very least Bioware could have done for us was to show some continuity to the romances.
I thank you threadstarter, were it not for you, I would have absolutely no idea how badly Bioware was screwing us over.
They actually cut out something like this? I think my money is better spent elsewhere, sorry Bioware.

Yes, we want the story to press forward... but the *most* we are treated to is A PARAGRAPH of epilogue for your love interest. There is no excuse for that.
I have Faith in the Bioware of old... I can forgive high expansion cost from voice acting and the like... I can forgive bugs.
This is something that requires TEXT. Give me a reason to think that this isn't just you being lazy Bioware. Please.

See, what boggles me is that it would be laziness if it just hadn't been written, but it was, and then was cut. Which is where my complete confusion is coming from. No matter how I think about it it doesn't make any sense at all.Adanu wrote...
Yep... BUDGET PROBLEMS don't effect a simply bunch of text. I don't care what excuse you make for it.

Even a single letter from the love interests/companions who didn't make it to the expansion would have meant so much to most players. I mean, BioWare fans are pretty much all in agreement on a single point, we love the companions. It's what drives the game for the majority of their market. (Sure, you get the people that want to solo the whole game, and some of them even do it from day one, but even a lot of them either start out by or later on end up doing play throughs with the companions and finding a favourite or two or three or...)
You know?
So, I just am flabbergasted that they'd CUT something like this. I just...gah...it breaks my brain.

That means its either a bug (should be fixed sometime within the next year hopefully) or they actively decided against using them. The latter makes absolutely no sense as all the players would probably love this feature and I cant really see any plausible reasons not to implement them.

Dog probably "died" somehow and they will never explain why.
I have it on very good authority that dog is alive and well.
The authority being the Awakening FAQ.

Leliana isn't there cos i told her Andraste was seen in Par Vollen and you could only find her by shouting "Thearishokstinks" really fast and she was killed by the Qun...

(snipped the cute letter)
So, why exactly was this cut?
The only explanation I can think of, is that the Devs have some other plans for Zev and Leliana that would not fit into the context of the letter. However, I haven't played Awakening yet, so I don't know exactly what the epilogue says about the romances in both cases and therefore ma be wrong in my assumption.

Thanks for posting Leliana's letter. I'll just have to imagine she sent my Warden that letter, and it makes her lack of appearance easier to handle!

There is not letter from Alistair? In my game he is un-kinged and sopouse to rebuild wardens with my mage but I get little mention of him only in the end of Awakening that he rejoined with my char. I wonder where he was all that time? On Highever?
Yeah, this bugs me as well. In most of my games, I don't make him king, even my human noble, and we run off to rebuild the Wardens. So Alistair, who for the longest time, was the only other Grey Warden in Ferelden with you for most of Origins, is suddenly missing/non-existant? I mean, ok, if they couldn't do a non-king Cameo, would a letter or mention of his whereabouts be too much to request?

Well, I'm just glad I didn't buy Awakening. Maybe once it hits the budget bin, there will mods that make Awakening the game it should've been. Then I'll think about purchasing it, and BioWare/EA can thank the modders that they get any money.

edit: if anything, it would be in a DLC.. that you'd have to pay for. <_< Well, maybe that's a little too far on the cynical side. Maybe.
It would kind of leave the Morrigan folks out to dry, though, cuz for the other three, it would be perfectly reasonable for them to send such a letter, but for Morrigan, not so much. Perhaps the devs could have done something with her ring to serve a similar purpose.

I'm still utterly baffled by the fact this was CUT. If they hadn't gotten around to implementing a letter system, or had never written it to begin with that would be one thing, but the fact it WAS written, and WAS in the game, and then they CUT IT BACK OUT blows my freakin mind...the level of wtfery, seriously. *sighs*

If you want a great plot, then you should buy it. The plot in this game is just amazing, I love it. The continuity, isn't.

I had that feeling, too! I felt better knowing my PC had a letter... intended for her.
