Since we have the texts of both Zevran and Leliana's letters, I guess it can be possible to mod them back into the game right? (looking with hope towards mod projects)
As been said before (several times, in fact), not right now, no. Hopefully there will be a toolset update at some point, but until then, no.
Edit: These letters came to light a few days after Awakenings came out, and that is the first thing many modders did -- tried to see if there was any way to put them back into the game. Many people are very sad

Thanks, that's strange though, I know some mods modifying Awakening, like Dragon Age redesigned, I guess changing faces is easier than scripting though.

Apart from ME2 (which barely counts), I've never seen (correct me if I am wrong) a game with continued romances. I have always dreamed of having my PC go through a normal relationship with their beloved in a sequel.
Baldur's Gate 2 to Throne of Bhaal had your romances continued and quite well too. I think thats one reason I'm disappointed with how they treated Awakening as a sidestory with little connection to Origins- Throne of Bhaal just picks up right from the end of BG2 and you keep pretty much all of your companions from BG2.

Ahhh, Throne of Bhaal! I forgot about that!
Well, it is supposed to be BG's spiritual successor <_<

what are these "quests" that are there instead of the letters?
Huh?
When you talk to the lady who first tells you about Nathaniel in the keep.

and that's irritating. Awakening's barely worth half price to most players as is. Bioware, tell EA to get off your back so you can develop, ya know, not buggy / glitchy / rushed games.

This would have assuaged quite a bit of my annoyance with Awakenings. A letter explaining why I am entering battle without my bound-for-life war dog would have been nice, too, but I guess they were too busy "fixing" the "broken" dialog system.

I've finished BGII ToB 3 days ago. It's different. At the end of BGII SoA there are no epilogues, you just finished the final boss and it's quite clear that the story is not over - your 'hero' is still bhaalspawn without any final resolution. The expansion starts right where the original game finished and in the expansion is the real conclusion with epilogues for your companions and everything.Brockololly wrote...

But I am also surprised how much of BG really is in DA. Maybe that's because of the writing (totally recognizable) or story design. I say 'it' is there. But lot of things also changed
At first I was also upset that Awakening will have no continuity, but now in retrospect I see this is nothing like BGII case. DA:O finished, had epilogue and everything is clear (regarding your Warden ad their future faith). Imo it was a mistake to make expansion that takes place after the Origins. Origins ended, case closed. From this point of view it could have been better to squeeze the expansion somewhere inbetween the Origins events, that makes sense to me.
If the expansion has be continuation of Origins... well then there is a HUGE problem with hundred different endings. I have no idea how it could have been solved and it also haven't been solved.
I very much agree that the letters should be in game and it would help the continuity a lot. There could be also other things in favor of continuity, not only the romance stuff. But they said they used the limited budget to make new things like quests and locations - that is valid decision and I don't complain, though I would never go this way have the decision been mine. I see Awakening as unnecessary compromise, but still minus the bugs is good adventure game.

I figure when I get around to playing as a human noble the character will be more open to her brand of nutters, but my Dalish Elf was like..."Riiiight, crazy Andrastite lady, you sit at camp and keep your religious crap to yourself."
