I do hope the release a new and improved toolset, so that we can get these letters modded back in. When they said no romance in awakenings, but aknowledgement of your origins romances, I was thinking that something like a letter or conversation would be present to explain. Why they took these out is beyond me. It's not like a codex with a bit of text is that difficult or space consuming.

I must say, from everything I am hearing, I am disappointed in how they handled the absent romances, I expected better.

You know whats funny about that...I have played through Awakening about 4 times now,  different characters/classes.

I have managed to get Anders to 100 LOVE...yes it says love.    I got Justice to love as well???  O.o  go figure that one.

You know what I suspect?   That many things that are missing were actually meant to be in there in Awakening, and got cut ...due to whatever...reason.

*sigh*   ...so originally they were going to go for "some" romance in Awakening and then cut it out completely, except that they forgot to remove...the  Love part on a couple characters ..if you got them to 100.   /rolleyes.

Btw the way I've thrown in the towel, I just resurrected my dead warden, as I see that otherwise it would be a complete and total waste of the 83 hours I spent playing her.

You win Bioware, for what thats worth.

Continuity is not the forte of Bioware, this whole thread makes that fact, evident.

I found the Dead Warden thing so infuriating. What's more is the fact that ME2 had a decent amount of continuity. Awakening was rushed.

Also, apparently the "love" thing is a bug. I got Nathaniel to Love as well.

Oh yeah, Awakening's approval is really bugged- My male Cousland apparently was able to get Justice, Anders and Nathaniel all to "love"...

I can only hope that the 2/1/2011 DA title is more in line with the quality of Origins and not Awakening.

Sorry buddy, I don't think Bioware wanted you to do it, they just gave the OPTION to ^_^

Why is it infuriating when it's only an option? XD If you don't like it, don't use it! :D You people are so strange sometimes... XD

Well, I almost always do the Dark Ritual so I haven't had to use a Zombie Warden in Awakening but here is my issue with "resurrecting" your Warden: DAO and most of BIoware's games always try to stress the consequences of the PC's actions and by saying its ok to just "hand wave" your Warden back into existence with no explanation, thats a cop out on Bioware's part. It really makes the ambiguity of Morrigan's offer and the potential consequences of it a bit cheap since the Ultimate Sacrificing Warden can just go "voila!" and come back to life while my Warden might have brought an Old God Baby into the world to stay alive.

I get that bringing back your dead Warden is an option and you don't have to do it, but people would have rather preferred to be able to just play as the Orlesian Warden with the choices of the dead Warden reflected in the game.

Yet having played Awakening now, I'm not sure it would have even mattered much, considering how little is carried over even when you import a "living" Warden.

This is why im going to go from 360 to pc with dragon age, all the lovely nerds who've taken the time to mod and undo what bioware has done and cant be arsed to fix. Those letters are awesome, especially zevs, i always felt the woman who handles letters was a bit of a lost opportunity.

Someone must be working on making this a mod.

And the awakening plot is awesome, the only problem is how cut short it feels. Oh ill just check in with everyone at the keep... what? we're going to war???

Budget cuts seem like a poor excuse. Imagine if they asked for donations from fans to ensure amazing dragon age games... they'd be minted

i think small things like letters would have been a nice touch. i'm curious as well why they were cut. i romanced leliana a couple times and got to a relationship once. would've been interesting to see the letter in that playthrough of awakening.

Why does "love" have to equal "romance"? This is like my niece arguing with her mom that she couldn't love her stepdad the "same but different", she could only love him "more or less" than the little girl.

Can I not love my brother, or my best friend, without having a romantic interest in them?

Well yes, in theory, but of course, that's not how the gamesystem works.

If their approval is in the 75-100 range, and you're romancing them, it should appear as "Love".

If you're not, it's only supposed to appear as "Friendly".

That's the way things are supposed to be ... according to the documentation and the prima guides and the Wiki ... ergo .... it's a bug.

BTW: I think it would have been cool to receive letters from your friends, as well as your LI. Maybe Sten just writing to tell you how things are back in Qun.

I get what you're saying but thats not how the game system's approval is supposed to work- they should be "friendly" not "love," it has nothing to do with brotherly love or anything, its just one bug amongst many in Awakening.

heh, a male warrior with justice at love would be quite amusing.

I just thought that Anders was a LI option that was removed to lower cost. I wonder if some of the Awakenings characters were suppose to be in the origins game since some of their "gifts" seem to be. Silver bracers anyone.

Because "love" in Origins meant romance.

I Shall go the optimisic route on this (if only cause of my nature) and assume the letteres got cut due to a possible last minute DLC that involves leliana (and maybe zevran too, who knows~!) otherwise it seems really pointless to cut

I really liked her views on religion. She wasn't dedicated to the written rules, but more understood the true morals and meanings behind them.

I like that Lucy, and I agree with you. That's why I always tell Leliana "I like your version better."

"sighs and shakes head" that is just sad. I adored my romance with Zevran. Heck! I played all the romances! Zev and Lel were the only 2 that agreed to stay with you!! sheesh.. that is totally lazy, lame, and cruel to even have the ability to locate it in the files.

I really have to wonder what the decision was to remove them, although I am even more confused given an ending I just got last night with my female Dalish and made it sound like we could be together or not. He had proposed for pete's sake!

I like to think now that maybe there will be a DLC that includes the LIs, good point Kail.

Romance DLC would be great - especially given how big a part they were of Origins. I miss Leliana.

I'd love it too... and I know I would buy it immediately, even IF.....
I spent 60$ for a DA:O CE + 40$ for DA:A.. Wasn't my right to have her into the expansion instead of spending other 5-7$ just to have her for 1 hour DLC?

The more.....
In these days I also heard about a possible Liara DLC for ME2.. My question therefore is....
Is not that Bioware is planning to use the romance and taking advantage of them just to collect more money????

Pondering....
