I'm planning on modifying the music and some sound in Dragon Age. In fact I'm trying to put the music of Baldur's Gate and some character soundsets (eg. battlecries) into DAO.
Is this legally acceptable?

I'd say go for it, and if someone from Interplay ask you to remove it, do so. BG2 sound set have been available in a couple of places (sorcerer.net) for years now.

Interesting question.
For the BG2 Remake we are looking into automatically extracting sound from a BG2 install (this is something we can do already). Sadly however, we don't know much about the DA sound format, and no easy sound conversion tools are available. Perhaps somebody here could shed some light on that? I'd imagine such an installer extraction tool could be of use for more infinity engine mods.
