I'll never be more than casually interested until they slash a 'I' off that 'VII'.

This. If SquareEnix wants to get me back on the Final Fantasy wagon they need to remake FFVI. I enjoyed FFVII, but it didn't compare to VI IMO.

I'm with you two. I obviously will appreciate a PS3 version of Aeris, but i would be much more happier with a PS3 version of Celes from FFVI. I keep imagining VI's map music right now, and the Opera house!:o

...  ahhhh  memories

Woooooo hoo hoo hoo hoo! Run, run, or you'll be well done!

Wouldn't mind that remake either. But I have to cast my vote for 7 first....maybe even 8. 7 was my favorite. I'll never understand the haters.

If Square Enix remakes any Final Fantasy (aside from IV), it really shows the dire straits they are in when they are forced to consider remaking games from over 12 years ago...a game we already know the ending to.  If they go down this remake road, it pretty much confirms that they are out of original ideas, or at the very least can't come up with a better idea.

Dierge of Cerberus and the Advent Children were the videogame equivilant of the Star Wars PrequelsPosted Image. They had none of the magic of the original. Feel free to disagree, but this is a longtime gamers opinion.

Better still, Square should go down the road Konami did and rerelease the playstation 1 version in a pack. Put in a memory card, maybe FF 8 and 9 for regular price, and appease the complainers who sold their game back in like 2000 for bus fare and those too young to afford it then, or for those who can't afford ebaying it now.Posted Image

There was a time when I would have killed for this. Now...meh. It'd be interesting, but I'm not about to buy a console I neither want nor need for it. If there was a PC version (as I recall, there was a PC version of the original FF7, wasn't there?) I might pick it up at some point.

Ummm.... no.  FYI a company can have several projects running at the same time.

Also why would SE remaking FF4 give them a pass but any other remake means they are in dire straits or out of ideas?

No, it means they'll have done market research and realize that there's PROFIT to be had by listening to the millions of people who have asked for this product. It's not rocket science. If there's money to be made, the company will consider it. Has nothing to do with creativity or ideas.

It's not like just because we played the original there is no way the remake will be entertaining.

I played the original Resident Evil when it came out, but the remake on the gamecube still had plenty of new surprises.

Do some research. Their staff and game directors want to make the game. It's actually number 1 on the Final Fantasy director's list of desired projects.

Quit riding their nuts. Their staff and game directors only consider the possibility of a remake. Its not number one on the final fantasy list of projects as they are currently developing Versus, Agitio 13 and XIV.

the_one_54321 wrote...
I talked about why it's hard to do. That doesn't mean they don't intend to try.

You saying so doesn't make it so. Deal with it and move on with life. Developing games isn't easy regardless of what you;re trying to develop. And what if they DID try but the game fails miserably?

the_one_54321 wrote...
Seriously? People are offering them millions of dollars and they'll just turn it donw. "No thanks, we've got plenty." Yeah right.

Once again who are these people? List these "people". Again these "people" are just a minority of gamers who happen to to love FFVII.

the_one_54321 wrote...
Really?! Are you really sure about that!? OMG I had no idea!!! Do you have any other intellectual gems to share with us?

Prove to me they are actually developing it. Prove up or simply shut the hell up. Really just because they "plan to do it" doesn't mean they will do it.  Hitler planned to conquer the west but failed, hirohito planned to conquer all of asia but failed to do so. The US military planned to develop space weapons but they didn't do it.

the_one_54321 wrote...
Foot, meet mouth. Look up the interviews with the game directos. It's not hard to find.

And you actually believe them like a lost sheep. So if what you say its true, how does versus XIII even have towns and a fricking world map?

the_one_54321 wrote...
It is by far the most underrated game I've ever played.

No one person has put this game down, again more fanboyism coming from someone like you.

the_one_54321 wrote...
Omg, you see what I did there? The expression of the differences in taste? Shocking, I realize, but it's actually a very common phenomenon.

Nope but the expression of rabid fanboyism and denial refusing to accept the fact that SE may never actually remake the game.

the_one_54321 wrote...
So, see, while there are people that aren't all that in love with the game, it's a matter of the many many many people that will pay for the game if it gets remade.

You keep saying "many many people" but you never actually substantiate who  are these people, you talk as if these "many many people" make up half of the worlds population.  Then again the only people who actually want FFVII remade are the hardcore FFVII fanboys that think it is the best thing since sliced bread.

the_one_54321 wrote...
Money in Square's pocket. They just have to do the foot work and collect.

Then again with their other games being made(versus, agito,XIV), they should just scrap them thus losing millions of dollars just to remake a game to please rabid fanboys and collect money already lost from them?  You make absolutely zero sense. But i am not surprised, if i'm not wrong you're probably someone who worships FFVII.

On the one hand I'm excited about the possibility of playing this game on a current gen system, with all the bells and whistles that involves. On the other hand, it would be a remake, and even though it would be of a game I love, I don't know how I feel about paying for a new (possibly not even tweaked at all) version of a game I beat to hell and back. I guess we'll just see if this even happens before I make a judgement.

If it doesn't turn out to be a direct translation then I'm all for it. The original plot-line and pacing could best be described as unpredictably vague. Rewriting the story as it was fully envisioned and putting it into one game rather than having it strewn about different media like it is now would actually be really interesting for me, at least.

Final Fantasy 7 would take quite a bit of work to remake it properly, there is a lot of content in that game, plus they would have to rewrite the script, and oh it would be a mess. Costly.

I already paid for one copy of the game, I don't need a second that was thrown together with better graphics and less heart.

One thing I would worry about is just how many members of the original team would be present to work on the remake?

Should a remake really be done by a new team who had nothing to do with the original? I would give a remake a look but I think some of the original staff should return, most notably Nobuo Uematsu with a reworked version of Final Fantasy VII's soundtrack.

Chances are slim at reassembling the original team, knowing that a few of them work at Mistwalker studios now.

It may be considering how lazy SE has got. "Zomg no towns becuz its too much work ****** ****** ******!!!!!".

Im hoping versus 13 will be better considering it actually has a world map.

I dare to hope it's a good sign that we haven't heard much about a FF7 PS3 remake, because it can allow me to dare to hope that they would be taking their sweet time & doing whatever it takes to make the remake with care, attention, & quality, & maybe clean up some of the old negative bugs while they're at it.

Fast trash is NOT better. I also think if they're already working on it, keeping it a secret is a good idea, then they won't have us 'rabid' fans breathing down their necks making them nervous & causing costly slip-ups & mistakes.

If it were to ever come out, I wanna see it come out a fully finished, polished, shining glory of a remake! Waiting is worth it.

My 1 1/2 cents.

You can direct download it any time from PSN. I believe
the price is $7 or $8USD.

Many thanks for the info! :)

Would you kindly remove your foot from your mouth? No one is trying to prove that they are making it. No one has even claimed that they are making it.  The CEO said that they are looking into how they can get it done.

Newest press release: the CEO said they have the idea on the table and are looking at how it can be done.

Interview with Kitase: this is the project that he would like to do if he can.

Interview with Kitase: it will be very difficult because towns have too much detail in HD and it would take a very long time to do.

Interview with Kitase: as long as people keep asking questions he'll be happy to answer them because he likes talking about it.

Interview with Kitase: there is tons of fan support for doing the remake.

Those of the things I said, and there is the proof straight from the men's mouths. You're full of it, and the best response you can come up with after being shown exactly what you asked for is "you're a moron" and "why do you believe them?" I feel like I'm arguing with a 12 year old.... Are you 12 years old? I'd feel really foolish if you're not even out of high school yet.

I disagree, I don't like Atlus whoring out that series.  I'd rather see another take or a true sequel (granted Strange Journey might be) to Nocturne.

Then again they said PS3 development, curious about what resources they used.  A lot of those smaller Japanese developers haven't been impressive on current consoles.  (Except for Atlus and the Wii)

I don't see how Atlus is whoring Persona out. We haven't gotten to ungodly numbers yet and Atlus has ALWAYS been a quality company. MegaTen is essentially their flagship franchise and Persona does the best out of all of them. Besides, the Persona games are BRILLIANT.

And Strange Journey IS a true sequel to the 'main' SMT franchise (following Nocturne, I believe).

How could they not have included towns in FFXIII because its "too much work to do in HD" when they frickin implemented a world map , towns and an airship  in Versus XIII? Or when countless other games could fully implement a town? People like
you are so damn guillible and don't have the brains to think

You purposely ignored this because you don't want to accept  the fact that you're wrong. Period.

An FFVII remake will not come anytime soon nor may it be even made. Deal with it because if you can't, you could always simply grab the nearest razor blade and you know the rest.
