This is all preference based. I like to play more civilized, intelligent, calculating and soft characters. Mages fit that profile quite nicely in most situations (So do Rogues, mostly). I strongly dislike warriors for their ruthless 'head-on' approach. A Gray Warden is not bound to any class. They are simply elite fighters who battle the darkspawn. Magic very much suits as a weapon for war. It can do more damage than any warrior could, and it could heal more than any remedy does.

Archon's robes and the Tervinter robes (however that's spelled) look quite nice on my guy mage. He's no skinny wimp. His arms...hmmmmmm He's built the same as the other guys (he's a human). Just saying. ditch the circle robes for some of those other ones and he'll look fine. Looks like a hero to me. Leliana thinks so too.

But as you can see in the next dlc, there are no new robes :(,

I am glad mages have arcane warrior,

Spoilers

simply because you are the last known arcane warrior in existence.

Indeed, so very few mage robes worth mentionning apart from the Reaper's Vesments and The one from the DLC... which i've been using all game despite its lower stats merely out of looks lol

My Mage looks fairly warlike in his Grey Warden Armor. If I figure out how to get him past level 20 before the game ends I might try him in Juggernaut Plate. :)

Well mages seem to be a necessary evil to be controlled by people in this world and a second class citizens at the least .

Mages are just too powerful. Duncan saw the potential.

Gary?

GARY!!!

(the old title was better)

Grey Wardens without mages would be like donuts without sprinkles. DO NOT WANT!

Honestly I love arcane warrior in this game I only wish I could look like my warrior mage from Oblivion, nothing like a sinister looking character in black hand robes, wearing enchanted rings/robes for constant armor then summoning your two handed sword from thin air.B)

If I can figure out how to work the toolset (lol like thats going to happen) I'm going to try to make black hand mage gear.

I guess its all the promotional stuff but I really see the wardens as the heavy armored kick ass dudes from the promos. My little mage is going to feel tiny compared to all those guys. Did they do any promotional images for other Wardens who weren't warriors?

You should play an Arcane Warrior.  Kick more ass than a Warrior or Rogue.
