Justify their failures any way you want, it still doesn't change the fact that they are failures. And failures are not impressive. We don't see the Quarian suceed a single time, and they always need Shepard to clean up their mess. This obviously isn't always what happens, but that's what happens in Mass Effect 2. I guess the Alliance Marines are failures as well. Along with the Asari Commandos, all merc groups, the citadel fleet, and the Krogan. They fail everytime we see them too right.

Why infact STG didn't do so hot until Shepoard showed up either. C-Sec got decimated by the geth during the battle of the citadel.

Point being, NO ONE IS COMPETENT COMPARED THE SHEPARD. Quarians got beaten because it was convienent for the plot to have them so so.

How about the story that han'gerrel tells. Small gunboat with tow crew fends off several pirate ships and allows the civilian vessel to escape, definitely failure material there.

Again, you're missing the point. I'm not denying that the Quarians are potentially powerful. It's just that there is nothing in the game that shows this. Almost all of the other species and factions have several testaments to their power and abilities. The Quarians entire legacy is the Geth, who crushed them. There is nothing impressive about the Quarian military said in Mass Effect 2, aside from Gerrel's one story. The fact that Reeger himself talks about how bad the Quarian army is when supplies become limited only further adds to the feeling that they are useless. Again, this is not necessarily true, but that's the impression the game gives. In comparison the other races, the Quarians are weak and pathetic, constantly being oppressed and hated. The single testament to their technical skills has become independent and far more powerful than them in every aspect. You can rant all you want about how the Quarians are actually strong, but it still won't change the fact that the game doesn't show this

And I will to once I see something that is a testament to the fleets power. But until Mass Effect 3, that's probably not going to happen, since Geth seizing control of one their ships due to their own stupidity certainly does not give a good impression.

The game doesn't really show anyone as that powerful, especially when the "mighty" citadel fleet gets destroyed in a matter of hours, before Soverign fire s a single shot

I will agree that the game developers are ridiculously unfair to the quarians, giving them the greater share of failures to stroke shepard's ego. Pisses me off.

However numerous sources confirm that The Quarian Navy is quite strong, like the codex, han'Gerrel, Kal'Reegar, even Commander Shepard and the Illusive Man

I just don't get how people can think a fleet of 50,000 ships is not a resource.

I half expect them to be in a flaming Normandy and when Joker says should they ask for Quarian aid, they'll say "NEVER!" and go down with the ship.

The only three civilized races in Mass Effect that don't have a Citadel embassy are the quarians, krogans, and batarians. The krogan aren't in because of their rebellion, and the batarians aren't in because they don't even go into Citadel space. I guess the quarians are pretty low on the list, but they don't come from Citadel space either. They come from way outside on the far rim. I'd still say Vorcha have to be at the bottom.

i wouldn't say well equiped in terms of supplies etc.... but the other qualities i would say so considering they are living on the ships.

See, you hit the nail on the head. This is why I can't respect the Quarians. They are constantly portrayed throughout the game as weak in order to create situations in which Shepard can be the hero. And while other races are subject to this as well, they are involved in many other places in the game so it doesn't give the impression that they are all weak and pathetic. We often observe these species being productive members of society. The Quarians in comparison are always being oppressed or are isolated. Even when you visit their own home its just to see them divide themselves over political issues. We don't ever see them produce anything of value. I mean, if the Quarians are so great with tech why do we never use technology manufactured by them? Why don't their merc bands ever hire young, naive Quarians to do their tech work for them? I haven't seen a single piece of impressive Quarian technology.

Hopefully this will change in Mass Effect 3. I really don't want to hate the Quarians, but at this point it's just easy to write them off as a weak, incompetent species.

The difference between you and me is that I can find good things in them even in their oppressed state. I respect them because they are still alive despite the galaxy's best efforts.

The quarians made a awesome job protecting their fleet but I don't recall reading any major attack on it.

As I said, the Flotilla can make a good job agains pirates and other threats like that, however, agains a more powerful enemy I really can't see them possible winning.

I don't think ANY of us are saying the Quarians have what it takes for a long-term war of attrition. But for hit-and-run? Sure, and for one big battle (THE OMFG ULTIMATE BATTLE!!!!!) of course.
