I read the codex, but you are just hiding behind numbers. The truly military strengh of the Migrant fleet is if I recall correctly much, much smaller than the total size of the Flotilla.

FFS, hundreds of ships is hundreds of ships, no matter how many they protect
Hundreds of warships and thoudands of armed merchantmen
I fail to see the issue here

.
There is no problem, just the fact that the Flotilla would be no match for a truly military fleet. Or you think otherwise? I can't see a reason to do so. Fleets from other races should be bigger than the military part of the Migrant fleet, also more advanced and with more powerful weapons. The civilians ships wouldn't be able to stand fire from a dreadnought...
.
I think the flotilla would be like Carthage in it's final siege by the romans. All people willing to fight, because if they lose it's the end of everything, however, it woundn't matter, as I didn't for carthage.

I don't remember the exact dialog, but he understands why you kept it secret and Tali makes him promise not to reveal it to anyone.

I like him too. Though I do think he's going to get his people killed. I'm no geth fan, quite the opposite, but throwing the fleet at them seems like suicide (unless Han'Gerrel knows something I don't). That's why I support Xen, or would like to...

I always found it odd that she sends that email regardless of what you do at the trial. She herself said it was going to be nearly impossible to continue Rael's work because of what I did, yet I got the same email with her gloating about finding the research.

I've never turned the evidence in. I thought she only sent you that email if you kept the research secret. It kind of annoys me that I can reveal the truth to Han Gerel but when I try to talk to Xen I get blocked by Tali. She earned a black-mark on her record for that one.

It's hard for me to like someone that has the exact opposite viewpoint of me and is dragging his species to annihilation. I mean, when you tell him that the Geth have multiple factions his response basically amounts to "I don't give a ****". Plus I really pissed him off when I crippled his war effort so it would be difficult for me to like him at this point. But he's still going to help me fight the Reapers, so I guess he's cool.

We don't know what kind of ships the quarians have. But they do have a proper navy, a large one, that speaks for itself.

Am am in no way suggesting they are a match for the Taurians or Humans but saying that they aren't complete write offs. You'd think you have some sort of personal issue with the Quarians the way you are attacking them.

But that's just what I'm saying. If you though I said the Flotilla was helpless you got it wrong. I see it as a powerful enough force to send a message that it's not to be messed with. So, agains pirates and other threats like this they are fine. The problem would be in a full scale war agains a major force in the galaxy, there, I think the Quarians would be just a burning Carthage. However, I don't see any reason to a war like that happens.
.
And no, I have nothing against the quarians, however I understand why you think I do.

Not being up to the level of strength as the TWO most powerful races in the galaxy hardly makes them the worst race, that was the initial "thesis" behind this thread. I think everyone here already dismantled that notion a long time ago.

What we have here is a case of toning down arguements, we're both guilty. We slowly ease up on pur extreme positions to appear more and more correct

Here's how I see it
You have your superpowers, Galactic Powers, regional powers, minor players and useless races

The council is a superpower
United the Terminus Systems (referenced in ME1)  and the geth, are galactic powers
The Migrant Fleet, the batarians, and Merc Groups are all regional powers
Volus and Krogan are minor players
Hanar, Elcor, Vorcha and varren are useless

One word: Transportation.

War is won and lost on logistics far more than troops.

The Quarians aren't powerful on their own, but whatever side they throw in with gets a very nice force multiplier.

No, besides their story being a BSG rip off (which is kinda cool if you ask me), to me they are the second I like most, being Turians my preferred. They are misterious, interesting and cool.

Edit: They have the largest fleet in the galaxy. I think you cannot **** with them that easily if you ask me.

My big problem with this debate is that we do not know the size and power of anyone's fleet.

I tried to look up the size of the Alliances (humans) fleet and could only find some ship types, but nothing on size of strength

the quarians are the only group that we have numbers on the size, but we do not know what part is military and how well the civilian ships are armed.

I think that the defences for the fleet involve a ring defence, the defencless ships are in the center and the farther you go out the better deffende the ships are.

Also we know if any civs have better tech than the other? i mean for the most part the ship tech is what they got from the citadel and so it is what ever the reapers wanted us to have. I just do not know if we have improved (or if it is even possible to improve) the weapons and tech that the ships have.

The quarians must have a fleet strong enough to take on most armies, the problem is that they have such a small infantry force. the problem for the quarians is that they can not get their planet back without an infantry army. I remember it said that they could not take back the homeworld with a direct attack, they would have to use orbital bonbardment if they would even stand a chance. this implies that the quarians could take on the geth space fleet, but the ground attack would be very bad

for the most part, if the quarians could dump their civilians on a planet or the citadel they could then use their l33t ship skills to make every ship into a military class. But this is only if they get a planet, most of the fighting here is about the quarians right now
so just ignore that last part :pinched:

I'm pretty sure the Geth have a larger fleet than the Quarians.

I'm assuming that's from Ascension.

I don't think explosives could destroy the entire Migrant fleet, unless it was some kind of black hole creating device which I doubt.

Well seeing as Geth are immortal, the only way to destory them all is to destory hubs.

Maybe. But the Geth are another subject. IMO given that the heretics on ME1 are something like 5% of them, they could conquer the galaxy easily if they wanted.
