I read the codex, but you are just hiding behind numbers. The truly military strengh of the Migrant fleet is if I recall correctly much, much smaller than the total size of the Flotilla.
FFS, hundreds of ships is hundreds of ships, no matter how many they protect
Hundreds of warships and thoudands of armed merchantmen
I fail to see the issue here
.
There is no problem, just the fact that the Flotilla would be no match for a truly military fleet. Or you think otherwise? I can't see a reason to do so. Fleets from other races should be bigger than the military part of the Migrant fleet, also more advanced and with more powerful weapons. The civilians ships wouldn't be able to stand fire from a dreadnought...
.
I think the flotilla would be like Carthage in it's final siege by the romans. All people willing to fight, because if they lose it's the end of everything, however, it woundn't matter, as I didn't for carthage.
My big problem with this debate is that we do not know the size and power of anyone's fleet.
I tried to look up the size of the Alliances (humans) fleet and could only find some ship types, but nothing on size of strength
the quarians are the only group that we have numbers on the size, but we do not know what part is military and how well the civilian ships are armed.
I think that the defences for the fleet involve a ring defence, the defencless ships are in the center and the farther you go out the better deffende the ships are.
Also we know if any civs have better tech than the other? i mean for the most part the ship tech is what they got from the citadel and so it is what ever the reapers wanted us to have. I just do not know if we have improved (or if it is even possible to improve) the weapons and tech that the ships have.
The quarians must have a fleet strong enough to take on most armies, the problem is that they have such a small infantry force. the problem for the quarians is that they can not get their planet back without an infantry army. I remember it said that they could not take back the homeworld with a direct attack, they would have to use orbital bonbardment if they would even stand a chance. this implies that the quarians could take on the geth space fleet, but the ground attack would be very bad
for the most part, if the quarians could dump their civilians on a planet or the citadel they could then use their l33t ship skills to make every ship into a military class. But this is only if they get a planet, most of the fighting here is about the quarians right now
so just ignore that last part
