It takes up 15,1 GB in the installation folder and then you have the save game folder in 'My Documents' that will take up more space when you save games. Also if you download more content you will need more space.

wow, that's huge. I didn't even read that. Good thing I got my new rig built with a 640 gig hd, my old 80 wouldn't have cut it.
But I'm still amazed this game is as large as my world of warcraft game. And that game world is much, much, much larger than this one. What is taking up all that space?

Well remember that WoW is a completely different game, I would figure that cut scenes, voice acting and all such matters would take up a good portion of space.

20 gig isn't all that uncommon with the newer games anyway. When you consider all of the possible permutations for various conversations (taking into account which NPCs you have with you, what race, gender and Origin you selected) the cutscenes alone are probably a huge hit right there.
Hell, some of the betas for AoC were larger than that, and we had to download those. The guys using the Digital versions of DA:O are the ones I feel bad for. At least we had the DVD to install from.
My total DA:O space useage so far is a little over 16 gig. I imagine that varies based on the individual systems in use. You also have to allow for content that will be downloaded after install, including patches.
One other thing people tend to forget, but which is equally important, is that the size calcs for an individual title (game or not) generally includes the amount of room the installer needs to decompress files, store temporary data, etc.. while it's installing. Given the size of some of the individual files (at least one I found is nearly 1.5 gig) a 20 gig space allocation for installation makes sense for DA:O.

18.1 GB without save-files for me. Yeah, I also thought it was ridiculous.
However, when you play the game you will see why it takes up so much space.

20GB or 200GB, I would still play this game. Well worth the space, especially with how cheap 1TB drives are getting.

Or lousy decompression. Hardly a problem though with the capacity of hard drives these days.arosjoa wrote...
