That would be.. right out. Do not count to two unless you intend to count to three.

Yeah I'm going to have to pass on this. I'd rather Bioware continues improving their shooting mechanics before experimenting with other fighting styles.

No.

Definitely not.

Melee weapons in gun fights are just stupid.

I have been pushing melee weapons every once in a while but it always comes back to one simple fact: people don't want melee weapons for shepard!

It is a shame but we will have to stick with shotguns for close range destruction...

why would any of the biotically inclined shepards use any weapon when the can exercise a force of 1000 newton with a biotic punch?

1000 newtons is the force of a bowling ball hurled at 248 mph

why would ANYONE use weapons when they can punch THAT hard?

edit : I meant of course melee weapons

It wouldn't be wrong.  Who wouldn't want to drive one of these?

Considering there's a melee option, which simply consists of Shepard repeatedly bashing someone over with their elbow, isn't exactly what I'd call an N7 standard. The idea of a CQC takedown, or disabling and then using the body as cover, would make sense in a cover shooter game that ME is. MGS, ME is not, as Shepard's a grunt, but I'm sure he's/she's skilled in hand to hand (which we see in a variety of cutscenes, like Samara's loyalty mission), which should consist of more than swinging his forearm like a club.

And that is what Vanguard's/Adepts should have.  Also that's one hell of a R interrupt.

I don't agree with melee weapons but would definitely be in support of more hand to hand animations. Not grabbing people as cover or any of that, but perhaps some kicks, headbutts etc..

Grabbing people as cover once they are dead would work for me. a living target not so much.  But if they can add more animations and moves without taking away from what they were doing on the shooting side why not.

suddenly Jack punching through a wall does not seem like a "cutscene power to the max" moment anymore

Oh hell yeah! Forget what i said about melee weapons! We want CQC! Its boring with just a stupid punch... That would be kick ass, especially in the style of Taken starring Liam Neeson or Metal Gear Solid starring.. Err, Snake! Make it happen Posted Image Uncharted could do it! Almost...

Controlling a mech would be pretty sweet too...

I can see it working with either an omni-tool/biotic disable/hold.  Even shotgun blasts are not instant kill maneuvers, and a Vanguard has to be able to handle the "front line" properly.  The idea is to turn the target into cover, in much the same way a biotic lift or singularity makes their wall-cover useless.  I see it as a further extension of the Vanguard, whose role is to get up close.

Actually, I wouldn't mind this specification, enabling the Vanguard to be more melee/gun focused than simply using Warp and all those other Adept style skills.  Whereas a Soldier, Infiltrator or Vanguard can do takedowns or use enemies as cover, only Vanguards can biotic bunch/kick something.

Another simple idea is a biotic grab, that pulls the enemy directly into your CQC range.  A more refined, targeted version of the existing Pull.

Melee  weapons would make a lot of sense in Mass Effect.

Leave horrible writing like that to George Lucas.
